Proximity

Proximity refers to the way in which elements are grouped together so that attention of the viewer or reader is redirected to the various parts of the designed elements.
  • It is nearness of one element to another.
  • It simply means that objects near each other are seen as a unit.
  • Visually group related elements(text and/or images).

The brain tends to group things together with other things that are nearby.
  • A group of people together at a place, you define their relation by the proximity between them.

Proximity is a group of related items rather than a bunch of unrelated elements.
  • Elements that are not related to each other should not be in close proximity(closeness) to other elements.
  • It makes comfortable to the brains and the eye can rest on it easily.
