Aliasing and Antialiasing

Aliasing :

It is the visual stair stepping of edges that occur in a image.
  • Aliasing problem is due to low resolution of an image.
  • It may occur due to the device or file is not high enough to represent a smooth curve.

Anti-aliasing :

It is the smoothing of the image or sound roughness caused by aliasing.
  • Adjusting pixel position to the color of the line and the background color.
  • If the image is zoomed out a bit, the human eye can no longer notice the slight change that antialiasing creates.
