Helvetica Movie


Helvetica is a documentary film about typography and graphic design. A film by Gary Hustwit produced by Swiss Dots production.
  • Helvetica was developed by Max Miedinger along with Eduard Hoffmann in 1957 for the Hass type foundry, Switzerland.
  • The film was made as the typeface celebrated 50 years in the year 2007.
  • The film features interviews with every big name in the design world including Erik Spierkemann, Massimo Vignelli, Wim Crouwel and some more.

Helvetica has become almost universal default modern font over the past 50 years.
  • The first when it was designed it original name is Die Neue Haas Grotesk.
  • It changed its later to Helvetica, derived from the Helvetia the latin name of switzerland.
  • The Linotype began marketing the font internationally in 1961.

The design style of Helvetica is used by advertising agencies, corporate logos, fine arts and in computer systems.
